Chinese premier stresses enforcement of laws against corruption
Chinese Premier on Friday asked the government officials of all levels to strictly implement laws and regulations to prevent corruption and ensure the well-being of the population.
"In times of peace, corruption is the biggest challenge for the ruling party and the main reason for corruption is that those powers are not well monitored or limited," said Wen at a national meeting the legal administration.
He said the problems of corruption are a "key test" for the government.
Wen Jiabao stressed that building a government of law is a fundamental guarantee for promoting social justice, an important measure to fight against corruption and also an essential part of reforming the country's political system.
He asked officials to strengthen legislation in key areas to solve the problems deeply rooted in the economic and social development and ensure that public views are reflected in the legislative process.
The Prime Minister also asked to make decisions in a scientific and democratic.
He called for a system of work transparent and open government, not individual cases that are state secrets, commercial secrets or private.
He cited several areas that should be open to the public, such as financial budgets, management of public resources, the major construction projects and charity.
Meanwhile, Wen Jiabao has called for enhancing the current system of government supervision, while calling on government departments to protect the rights of public oversight and support of media coverage on illegal activities and misconduct of officials.
